Concept:

On the closing night of the Brussels "week of mobility", Sit & Listen presents a simple artistic concept to mark this occasion. The week of the mobility is an annual event which encourages alternative transport means to cars in the city.

The aim is that all artists, both audio and video, will adapt their work, by using samples, fieldrecordings and images which have been taken from alternative transport means. (Cyclists, pedestrians and public transports)

Expect two concerts which will take place in the middle of a visual installation, and all output will reflect sounds and images from the city.

Eric Vloeimans (Challenge Records - NL)

Trumpettist Eric Vloeimans is ranked as one of the undisputed giants within the Dutch jazzestablisment. Coupled with his beautiful sonority and controlled musical dynamics, his open andcrystal-clear phrasings are comparable to the likes of Wynton Marsalis.

VoizNoiz

The strength of this fascinating found-sound pastiche will be enough to send fans of musique concrete, advanced turntablism, and trip-hop scouring the import bins. Most of the material that comprises these 20 tracks comes from field recordings of human voices speaking, singing, declaiming, and arguing. This is an exquisite album by an artist who deserves much wider recognition. (Rick Anderson - All Music Guide)

Back'n'Forth (Lamadameaveclechien, Unrezt - BE)

Since 2002, Aziz and Steph are the primeinstigators of Back & Forth. The young belgian laptop- and sampling-duo has their roots in hiphop, jazz and various electronic genres.
Their versatile compositions take us from the wide spectrum of jazz through the winding streets of film scores, back to the home of downtempo and cinematic hiphop. Eclectic beat patterns meet sophisticted jazz-sampling and electrified soundscapes.
In 2005 they released their first EP as a free netrelease on the brussels-based label Thin Consolation. Currently they are working on a full length album which should be finished before the end of 2007. Back & Forth are also members of the belgian artist collective and label lamadameaveclechien.
